Joseph Ahoubim

Joseph Ahoubim, DO

Dr. Ahoubim began his academic journey at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned his undergraduate degree, followed by postbaccalaureate studies at the University of California, Berkeley. He went on to pursue his medical degree at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was trained in a philosophy rooted in holistic, patient-centered care. His education emphasized the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and environment—an approach shaped by serving communities with limited healthcare access and an urgent need for whole-person care.

During his clinical training, Dr. Ahoubim became increasingly aware of the limitations of traditional primary care models, which often focus on treating illness rather than preventing it. This experience fueled his passion for reimagining primary care into something more proactive, comprehensive, and individualized. He developed a deep interest in preventive and functional medicine, with a commitment to promoting early detection, metabolic health, and lifestyle-driven interventions that address root causes rather than symptoms alone. He incorporates modern diagnostics, including bedside ultrasound, to enhance real-time clinical decision-making and provide more precise, patient-centered care.

Dr. Ahoubim completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Southwest Healthcare’s Temecula Valley Hospital. He is currently privileged to provide care at multiple hospitals across Southern California, including Palmdale Regional Medical Center, Corona Regional Medical Center, and Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center.

Dr. Ahoubim remains committed to a style of medicine that is both high-tech and high-touch—blending advanced diagnostics with a deeply human approach that prioritizes listening, compassion, and holistic care.

In his personal time, he enjoys golfing, cycling, and spending quality time with his wife and two young daughters.

Brian Berookhim, MD

Dr. Brian Berookhim began his academic path at UCLA, where he completed his undergraduate studies before earning his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Training across different healthcare systems early on gave him an appreciation for the importance of accessible, patient-centered care—a perspective that continues to shape his practice today.

During his Internal Medicine training, Dr. Berookhim found himself drawn to primary care, hospital medicine, and obesity medicine. He places a strong emphasis on preventive care and long-term management of chronic conditions, believing that the most meaningful improvements in health often come from early intervention, education, and a collaborative approach with patients.

Dr. Berookhim completed his residency at Southwest Healthcare – Temecula, where the hands-on environment and close mentorship solidified his commitment to evidence-based, compassionate medicine. He now serves as Core Faculty with Southwest MEC in Palmdale, working directly with residents and helping guide their development as clinicians. In his practice, Dr. Berookhim strives to blend attentive listening, thoughtful decision-making, and up-to-date clinical knowledge. His goal is to create an environment where patients feel supported, understood, and empowered in their health journey.
